Palmetto Brick Company Chooses Zontec SPC Software to Manage Product Quality

Cincinnati, OH -- Palmetto Brick Company, headquartered in Cheraw, SC, has chosen Zontec's Synergy 2000™ Statistical Process Control (SPC) Software to help its manufacturing operations manage product quality.

"The primary reason we purchased Synergy 2000 is to keep our manufacturing process consistent so that our colors and brick properties meet customer's needs," says Todd Butler, Palmetto Process Engineer. "To achieve this consistency, we must monitor our raw materials and manufacturing processes very closely and try to reduce or eliminate any variability that can be measured.

Palmetto produces 150-million brick per year. The residential market accounts for approximately 50 percent of Palmetto's business.

The investment in Zontec SPC software follows a $28-million, 400,000-sq. ft. plant expansion in 2005, featuring robotic handling and computer controlled processes to make it one of the most technologically advanced brick manufacturing plants in the U.S.

Supplier Data Collection Comes to the Web!

In today's global economy, managing supplier quality has become one of the most critical business challenges. Zontec's Synergy 3000™ Statistical Process Control (SPC) Software allows customers with dispersed supply chains to exercise total control over supplier quality by implementing uniform quality procedures across Windows® and the Web.

For the first time in any SPC software program, suppliers can log onto a customer's Web server and perform data entry within a powerful and secure Web Operator browser application. Meanwhile, customer personnel can access the supplier data from either the Synergy 3000 Windows application or Web Manager browser interface to monitor, analyze and report on supplier activity 24/7.

The advantages of Zontec's global supplier quality management system include:

  • The ability to quickly move from an "inspect and reject" mentality to a more proactive "predict and prevent" strategy
  • Customer-controlled SQL supplier databases
  • Freeing suppliers from inconsistent data management, reporting and security issues
  • Complete traceability, audit trails and accountability records
  • On-line procedures and reference documents that the supplier can easily follow
  • Automatic e-mail and text message notification to designated customer and supplier contacts when process violations occur
  • A reduction or even elimination of incoming part inspections

Unlike complex enterprise business systems that involve lengthy implementation schedules and extended time-to-benefit, Synergy 3000 offers a rapid installation timetable and the potential for millions of dollars in manufacturing cost savings. Synergy 3000 represents the next generation of enterprise quality management and a breakthrough architecture that other vendors have been unable to achieve.
